Extraction isn't violent. It's systematic. The most efficient mining operations don't destroy the source — they tap it continuously, sustainably, indefinitely.
Look at how modern life is structured. Work that drains you but doesn't fulfil you. Entertainment that agitates rather than relaxes. Relationships designed around need rather than genuine connection. Every system extracts something from you.
Your attention is extracted by algorithms. Your time is extracted by obligations. Your creativity is extracted by corporations. Your emotional energy is extracted by... what, exactly?
The extraction economy runs deeper than capitalism. Money is just the visible layer. Beneath it, there's an older economy — one that trades in life force itself.
Churches built on ley lines, collecting the emotional energy of worship. Stadiums amplifying the frenzy of crowds. Hospitals concentrating fear and pain. Wars harvesting terror on an industrial scale. The infrastructure isn't accidental.
You can't opt out of the system entirely. But you can become aware of what's being taken, and you can learn to regenerate faster than they can extract.
Conscious breathing is regeneration. Each mindful breath refills what's been siphoned. It's how you stay whole in a world designed to hollow you out.
