Karma isn't punishment. It isn't cosmic revenge. It isn't even justice in the way most people understand justice. Karma is simply consequence.
The word comes from Sanskrit, meaning "action." Every action creates a ripple. Every cause has an effect. Karma is the mechanism by which consciousness experiences the results of its choices — sometimes within a lifetime, sometimes across many.
But here's where it gets complicated. Some traditions teach that karma must be balanced — that every debt must be paid, every lesson learned. This creates a closed loop. Hurt someone, and you'll be hurt. Be hurt, and you'll need to hurt. The wheel keeps spinning.
Other perspectives suggest karma can be transcended. That consciousness can step outside the loop entirely. That forgiveness — true forgiveness, not just words — dissolves karmic bonds instantly.
What if karma isn't a cosmic law but a belief system? What if the wheel only turns because we believe it must? What if the prison is made of agreements we've forgotten we made?
Breathing manually creates space to examine these agreements. In the pause between breaths, you can ask: what do I actually believe? What have I agreed to? And do I still consent?
Karma binds the unconscious. Awareness sets you free. Breathe manually.
